The Sea Robin Costume
My sister asked me if she could make me a Halloween costume, back in 2007. I jokingly suggested she make me a Sea Robin costume. I never imagined she would make me a Sea Robin costume, but she did, and it is fantastic. Here's some photos.
The 2007 Sea Bright Halloween Parade
At the time my sister made the costume I was living in Sea Bright, NJ, and they have a Halloween parade, so I wore the costume in the parade. The fishermen that fish off the bridge got enjoyed the costume more than anybody.
Triglidae Cosplay Facsimile
The past three years I've participated in a music challenge called the RPM Challenge. The challenge is to record an entire album in a month (February). Somewhere during the recording of the second album (Triglidae Cosplay Facsimile in 2009) I decided that it would be a concept album about a satellite that returns to earth to battle I giant , mutant, kaiju Sea Robin. The album is called Triglidae Cosplay Facsimile and I ended up using the Sea Robin Custome for the album cover.
I used the costume again for my 2010 album Aquatic Age Hypothesis, for the video for my song Super Sloppy Space Junk.
What are Sea Robins
A Sea Robin is an ocean fish that lives along the shore of New Jersey (and most other places). Quoting Wikipedia: "Sea robins, also known as gurnard, are bottom-feeding scorpaeniform fishes in the family Triglidae. They get their name from their large pectoral fins, which, when swimming, open and close like a bird's wings in flight." Most anglers I've met hate Sea Robins because they're boney and not easy to prepare.
